Fellow Rotarians,
Over the past 11 years as a member of the Tahoe City Rotary Club I have been fortunate to have been involved with the finest people our community has to offer. It is now my turn to give back to our club by being President for the year 2011-2012.
Our club is an active and boisterous one meeting Tuesday evenings at the Sawtooth Ridge at 6:30 for dinner – with social time beginning at 6:00 pm. I am grateful to have a board that is experienced and committed to Rotary and its goals. We also have committee chairs for our auction, ski day, RYLA ski weekend, speech and music contests, etc. that give their all to make each event exceptional and the best it can be. We are very fortunate to have a program chair working hard to provide us with exciting and diverse programs throughout the year. As a club we strive to include our spouses and family members along with friends to as many activities as possible. We make a point to have a Christmas and Valentine’s party along with other special events through the year which we encourage family and friends to attend in order to maintain the special relationship Rotarians have with our members, friends and community.
I challenge our club and each member to do what they can do to increase our membership. Rotary will sell itself if we can just encourage members to invite friends to come to meetings with speakers they might enjoy. We as a club must work hard on maintaining our members through participation and camaraderie. Everyone needs to know they are part of a team that is working hard to better our world.
REACH WITHIN TO EMBRACE HUMANITY is the theme of this year’s Rotary International President, Kalyan Banerjee. As a club and as individuals let’s try to achieve Kaylan’s goal.
Thank you,
Gary
